I have been spinning poi for about 2 years now and just recently started performing with fire. I have also attended many other cirque classes such as juggling, ballet, pole, silks and cyr wheel. I love trying new cirque activities.
My inspiration for performing has been to challenge myself and push my limits. Performing with poi has definitely improved my spinning abilities and helped me to grow as a performer.
Performing with Cirque Asylum has definitely been challenging at times, trying to balance rehearsals with everyday life. But once you see everything start coming together it is worth all the time and effort.
It is such a joy to be able to share the circus arts with friends, family and others through performance. Poi spinning is a very relaxing and therapeutic hobby for me. During the day I work as a Civil Engineer which can become very regimented so I am glad to have poi spinning as an outlet for my creative expression.
Outside of the cirque world I am very passionate about singing. I enjoy competing in local karaoke competitions as well as participating in local theater productions. One of my goals for the future is to combine my favorite hobbies and one day perform poi while singing.
